Alcaidesa Beach and Golf Apartment

Just 20 minutes from Gibraltar, Alcaidesa is a peaceful residential estate and tourist development with an unbeatable beachfront location between Sotogrande and San Roque.

Alcaidesa is a special creation although growing in size and importance it's traditional Andalusian charm is set to remain as it is forever. Thanks to an "Architectural Control Committee", the town can grow and change, but only in accordance with a set of guidelines regarding style and other features that its homes and buildings may and may not include.

Set along the more rugged, western end of the Costa del Sol, this town enjoys beautiful Mediterranean views and good beaches. In fact, the two kilometre stretch accompanying the village has earned a blue flags for meeting high standards regarding cleanliness and environmental friendliness.

Next to the beach is prime golf ground, covered by the Alcaidesa Links Golf Course, the only links course in southern Spain. With views to Gibraltar and Morocco's Atlas Mountains, the course mixes sun and sand with salt breezes and inspires images of a Scottish Links course - but with an almost sub-tropical touch. In addition to providing regular players with great pleasure, the course has opened its fairways to three PGA championships since it opened in 1992.

Eating and Drinking

Down in the village, 1.8 kilometres away, you can find 3 places to eat and drink

The Dragonfly - Located on the right of the village complex. The main attraction to the Dragonfly is the the cheaper tapas (portions) they have on offer which are very good value for money. Also Friday night is happy hour at the Dragonfly where you can buy 2 drinks for the price of 1 between 18:00 and 19:00 - be warned though, that if you order 1 drink 2 will arrive at the same time. Hic!

Arena Chiringuito ( beach Bar ) is 5 min drive or 20 walk down to centre of old Alcaidesa and park outside the "Dragonfly" bar. Head toward the end of the short road and cut left along the path. Bar is on the left. Top steaks. 3 euro hires you a sunlounger for the day. Beer 1.3 Euro for a "Cana" ( small beer from pump ). Sangria 1.20 odd a glass. Lunch 6 euro. Book a table for evening meal. Meal for 2, starter, main with wine, beer, etc costs around 60 - 70 Euro.

Up in the Golf Club, 1.3 kilometres away

Alcaidesa clubhouse - located left out of the apartment. Although now open and very dapper too, the clubhouse is only open until 20:00 - Breakfast can be purchased for approximately €8.50 for a cooked breakfast.

Sotogrande - Go left from the apartment up the road past townhouses on right, toward Clubhouse on right. Take 2nd exit off that roundabout. Straight along toward gatehouse. This is the top exit from complex. Go across slip road over E-15 AP7, go right on to the "via de servecio" ( service road ) don't go onto the E-15, stay on the service road for 15km. 1st right at roundabout toward Sotogrande Playa. Follow the road all the way to the New marina, just keep following the road until you reach the new marina. Park anywhere and seek out the bar "Ka Ka". Excellent food and well cheap. Also has a decent Thai, Chinese and a few nice bars.

Alternatively, go Left at same roundabout, you are in Sotogrande Alta old town. Nice restaurants.

La Vista A La Carte is a public restaurant which forms part of the Aldiana Hotel and serves a set menu which is approximately €50 a head and has been known to have such delights as quails eggs amongst other things.
